Ruchi soya to move indias tomato market forward

Ruchi Soya has been working with Kagome Co. Ltd to form a commission of sorts to revolutionize the tomato market and to drive it forward.

Ruchi Soya Group and Kagome have been working in tandem to create a joint venture and a commission of sorts they call ‘Ruchi Kagomi.” The Joint Venture ‘Ruchi Kagome’ plans to launch premium tomato puree, sauces, ketchup and other great products related to tomatos. The tomato industry in India is a huge one, with about 17 millions tons being produced per year. It’s a wonder how local tomato farms can keep up!


Currently India is the second largest producers of tomatos in the world, and one of the major importers as well. The joint venture should be ready to start production in june of 2014, when they will revolutionize the tomato market. ‘Ruchi kagomi” hopes to drive the indian tomato market forward, by increasing awareness, helping local farmers to manage their harvests better, to increase farmers education and to support farmers to help them be more successfull.
Mr. Dinesh Shahra, Founder and Managing Director, Ruchi Soya was quoted saying, “Ruchi Kagome is all set to tap the rapidly growing FMCG and Processed Foods business in the country. We are planning to launch a range of tomato products, based on world class technology to be provided by Kagome. These products will be marketed in both, the Business to Business (Food Services) segment and the Business to Consumer (Retail) segment.”
